Mechanistic and predictive modeling of respiratory virus dynamics

The Howerton Lab at the University of Notre Dame (beginning Fall 2027) will be hiring PhD students in infectious disease dynamics and modeling. Research projects will span three broad themes: multi-pathogen dynamics, immuno-epidemiology of respiratory viruses, and real-time outbreak predictions to support public health response. Researchers in the lab will develop projects within and across these themes, shaped around their own interests and expertise. Writing and science communication will be highly emphasized, and contributions to a collaborative lab environment are expected.
