Position:
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in stratified transmission models for infectious diseases. This work is part of the PREVIX project (Pandemic preparedness to Respiratory Virus X - integrative modelling from first cases to early public health countermeasures), funded by ANRS-MIE, investigating how individual behaviors and social context affect the spread of infectious diseases and the impact of public health interventions. In collaboration with EHESP (École des Hautes Études en Santé Publique, French School of Public Health), the postdoctoral researcher will develop and analyze age-structured transmission models incorporating social contact patterns and behavioral responses informed by survey data, and explore their impact on epidemic dynamics and intervention strategies. The work will involve mathematical modeling, computational simulation, and analysis of epidemiological and behavioral data.

Candidate profile:
Applicants should hold a PhD in computational epidemiology, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, or a related quantitative field.

Required skills:
- Strong background in infectious disease modeling
- Experience with stratified transmission models and contact matrices or social contact data
- Programming skills
- Experience working with quantitative datasets

Additional assets:
- Experience with socio-demographic stratification in models
- Experience with modeling behavioral responses during epidemics

Research environment:
The position will be hosted at the Sorbonne Université Modeling Outbreaks Center (SUMOC) at Sorbonne Université | INSERM in Paris, within the Pierre Louis Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health. Established in 2025, SUMOC is a center for research and innovation in infectious disease modeling to support epidemic preparedness and response. The work will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Vittoria Colizza, founding director of SUMOC, within the EPIcx lab of the Center.
